Class S tournaments will have a free play period for practice in the 15 minutes before the tournament.Ĭlass A would be for $5. These would likely be held during prime time, somewhere around 8 or 10pm, but spaced out enough to let participants in both cool down. The tournaments themselves will have classes by likelihood of participation:Ĭlass S would be SFIII and IV, $10 entry. Tournaments will be available for registry beforehand - I'd have to figure out a system - and at the site, likely at the same "desk" as the sign-in. If we get sponsorship, then it would be even easier to get the money to reserve the room and get this stuff. That way we'd know if someone paid, and it also is a nice souvenir for going. We could batch order a hundred of those things for a decent price that could be made up in entry fees. I think it would be pretty sweet to get "Minnesota Meltdown VG Gathering - Summer 2009" lanyards with badges for names. There will be a desk at the front to sign in and pay money. Main issue will of course be enough televisions to ensure tournaments move smoothly and quickly. Equipment lists will be organized between SRK and NG, with hopefully more things than actually will be needed. We can also rent out a room for quiet time and refreshments, but that would probably be the sole purpose of the room - see below.Įntry fees will be based on whether or not people bring televisions, video games, and/or video game systems. Gathering will be held at the Ramada in the place where the last summer gathering was (it was a Sheraton before), with a date possibly at the beginning of September or end of August if we're lucky, beginning with opening ceremonies at 2pm which would encourage people to come for the whole event, and likely continuing until 4am. At the end we can start discussion and whatever, because this is about what WE all want to do, so everything can be subject to change: Here's my proposal that I've talked about with Bobak and djdelly. Get ready for some text, but make sure to read through because your involvement is what makes this happen.ġ) To make this an event that can be cross-run by the Neo-Geo guys and others so that it maintains a level of integrity that you don't really find with a bunch of next-gen street fighter fans.Ģ) To ensure that the event is not EVO - it will contain tournaments but will be based on the fact that we MN people tend to like seeing each other and playing games together.ģ) To build up good enough organization credit with you guys so that we can make a formidable Neo-Geo gathering in the winter which will be neo-centric.
